Paul Mescal confirmed to play Paul McCartney in Beatles biopic
In conversation with Christopher Nolan at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Scott Ridley confirmed that Paul Mescal is set to star in the forthcoming Beatles biopic.
Speaking about his next project, Ridley Scott confirmed that he's been working on The Dog Stars, which which Mark L. Smith adapted from the Peter Heller novel. Last month, it was reported that he would be reuniting with Gladiator II actor Paul Mescal for the film. When Christopher Nolan asked Scott to confirm whether this was true, he said: “Yes... Maybe. Paul is actually stacked up, doing the Beatles next. So I may have to let him go.”
Last month, Entertainment Tonight asked Mescal was asked how it would feel to play McCartney. “It would be an incredible story to be attached to,” he said. “The fact that Sam Mendes is attached to direct, like truly, it would be a dream come true.”

Last month, Ringo Starr appeared to have confirmed that Barry Keoghan will take on his role in the forthcoming Beatles biopic. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Ringo Starr said: "I think it’s great. I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many."
The four biopics on The Beatles will be released in 2027 via Sony Pictures.
