Barry Keoghan to play Ringo Starr in new Beatles biopic
Ringo Starr appears to have confirmed that Barry Keoghan will take on his role in the forthcoming Beatles biopic.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Oscar-winning filmmaker Sam Mendes had been given full rights to the band’s life stories and music in order to create four movies which are scheduled for release in 2027. The families of John Lennon and George Harrison, alongside Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, have authorised the films and will grant Mendes full access to anything he needs from their history.
“I’m honoured to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” Mendes said in a statement.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ringo Starr shared his thoughts on Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inisherin, Saltburn) playing his role. "I think it’s great. I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many."
The rumoured cast is said to be Paul Mescal starring as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon and Charlie Rowe rumoured to play George Harrison.
The four biopics on The Beatles will be released in 2027 via Sony Pictures.
