Watch Clarissa Connelly cover "Moonlight Shadow" in session at End of the Road Festival
Scottish-born, Danish-based and Warp Records-signed songwriter Clarissa Connelly turned in an affecting take on Mike Oldfield's signature track "Moonlight" shadow for Best Fit at this year's End of the Road Festival.
Fellow Scot Maggie Reilly originally took vocal duties on the 80s classic, which was at one point thought to be about the murder of John Lennon – but was actually inspired by the 1953 Tony Curtis film Houdini.
The song was part of Best Fit's secret sessions, which also saw performances from Gruff Rhys and Bill Ryder-Jones, Yo La Tengo, Ichiko Aoba, Jess Williamson, Julianna Riolino, Master Peace, Sarah Meth, and Jeffrey Martin.

Best Fit's secret sessions have become a key part of End of the Road each year, bringing together artists from across the line-up in a series of short sets, exlusive cover, collaborations, and live interviews and Q&As. Past guests have included Lucy Dacus, St Vincent, Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, Moses Sumney, Laura Marling, Patti Smith, and Frightened Rabbit - who played a now iconic version of "The Modern Leper".
The line-up for next year's End of the Road Festival - which runs from 28 to 31 August 2025 – includes Caribou, Father John Misty, Self Esteem and Sharon Van Etten.
You can catch Clarissa Connelly live playing a headline show at London's ICA on 19 February; full details over on clarissaconnelly.com.
