The Weeknd announces House of Balloons 10th anniversary release with original samples
The Weeknd will celebrate the 10th anniversary of House of Balloons this weekend by uploading it to streaming services with the original samples for the first time.
House of Balloons was released on 21 March 2011 as The Weeknd's debut mixtape, and this Sunday The Weeknd willl celebrate its 10th anniversary by uploading the tape to streaming services with the original samples for the first time.
The mixtape features samples of the Cocteau Twins, Beach House, Aaliyah and more, and now those original samples have been approved it means The Weeknd can give the mixtape a proper release.
The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, wrote on Instagram, "On Sunday for its 10 year anniversary I’m releasing House of Balloons on all streaming platforms for the first time in it’s original incarnation. With the original mixes and samples."

As well as making House of Balloons availlable on streaming services, The Weeknd has announced a limited-edition vinyl that will feature new artwork by New York artist Daniel Arsham.
Last week The Weeknd pledged to boycott future Grammy Awards due to the "secret committees" after not gaining a single nomination for this year's awards.
