New Beyoncé song "Be Alive" will feature in King Richard film starring Will Smith
Beyoncé has contributed a new song called "Be Alive" to Will Smith's new film King Richard, which received its world premiere at Telluride Film Festival.
King Richard charts the rise of tennis superstar sisters Venus and Serena Williams, and sees Will Smith play the role of their father Richard Williams, and according to the Los Angeles Times, the end credits premiered a new Beyoncé song called "Be Alive".
According to the piece, the song was written for the film with DIXSON.
King Richard is likely to be in the running for the 2022 Oscars, which means Beyoncé could be up for an Academy Award for "Be Alive", and might even get to perform the track at next year's ceremony.
With King Richard slated for release in UK cinemas later this autumn, it seems likely that Beyoncé might release the song in the coming months.
Last month Beyoncé did confirm that new music is on the way. She said, "With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again. I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible. I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies. Still, there’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old. Yes, the music is coming!"
