Miley Cyrus opens up about nearly having a panic attack during Summerfest 2021 set
During Miley Cyrus' set at Milwaukee's Summerfest last week, she opened up to the crowd by discussing how she nearly had a panic attack during the performance.
Last Friday (17 September) Miley Cyrus performed at Milwaukee's Summerfest, and on top of playing tracks from last year's Plastic Hearts album, back catalogue and covers of Blondie, Janis Joplin and Cher songs, Cyrus also spoke candidly about nearly experiencing a panic attack during the performance.
As Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports, Cyrus told the near-20,000 strong audience at Summerfest's American Family Insurance Amphitheater, "A couple songs ago, when the lights were off, I went back to Stacy who’s known me since I was 12 – we’ve been in this band together since I was 12 years old – and I said 'I feel like I’m going to have a panic attack’."
Cyrus continued, "Like everyone else, for the last year and a half I have been locked away and isolating and it is very stunning to be back in a place that used to feel like second nature. Being on stage used to feel like home, and it doesn’t anymore because of how much time I spent at home locked away."
"The pandemic was startling and terrifying and coming out of it is slightly terrifying," Cyrus added. "So I just wanted to be honest with how I’m feeling." Skip to the 29-minute mark to watch Cyrus talk to the crowd.
