Kneecap, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, H.E.R and more shortlisted for Best Original Song at Oscars 2025
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have revealed the shortlists in ten categories. The 2025 Oscars will take place on 2 March 2025.
KNEECAP the comedy biopic about the Irish rap group, and co-starring Michael Fassbender, has been shortlisted for two awards including representing Ireland for Best International Feature, and also Best Original Song for "Sick in the Head". The film won seven awards at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA), including Best British Independent Film.

Other shortlisted artists for Best Original Song, H.E.R, who performs a rendition of Diane Warren's "The Journey" from the film, The Six Triple Eight. Brandi Carlile and Elton John's collaboration on "Never Too Late", taken from the eponymous documentary is featured alongside "Piece By Piece", from the eponymous biopic Lego film about Pharrell Williams.
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who scored Challengers are being celebrated for their track, "Compress/Repress", alongside "Forbidden Road" by Robbie Williams, and "Winter Coat", which features in the Saoirse Ronan-starring film, Blitz.
Voting for the 97th Academy Awards nominations will run from 8-12 January 2025. In the UK, the Oscars will be broadcast live on ITV, and available to stream on ITVX. For more information, visit oscars.org.
