Kanye West was going to headline Coachella but pulled out due to stage disagreement
Kanye West has pulled out of a headline slot at Coachella after disagreeing with organisers over the stage size.
The full lineup for Coachella was revealed this morning, revealing Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, and Ariana Grande as the headliners for the California desert festival.
It's reported by TMZ and Consequence of Sound that Kanye West was originally going to headline one night at the festival, before he disagreed with organisers offering him a 40x60 stage space which West described as "artistically limiting". According to TMZ, a source close to Kanye West said, "These 40×60 stages are so archaic. It’s the same type of stage on which Shakespeare’s works were performed hundreds of years ago.”
Goldenvoice are responsible for the stage setup at Coachella, and have declined the rapper's request to change the stage for his set. The same company was responsible for his Kids See Ghosts glass box suspended stage at Camp Flog Gnaw in 2018.
TMZ also stated that the Chicago rapper is "done with performing at festivals". West is yet to release his ye follow up Yandhi, which has already been postponed twice.
