Kanye West backpedals on support for Donald Trump
Kanye West is steering away from Donald Trump after the US President's torrid first weeks in charge of the Free World.
Kanye made a high-profile visit to Trump Tower in December last year, with the rapper/producer asking for a "15 minute sitdown". Trump said at the time that the pair "[have] been friends for a long time."
According to TMZ, Kanye - who outed himself as a Trump supporter shortly before being hospitalised for "exhaustion" - has removed all traces of Trump support on his social accounts. "I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change," Kanye had written on Twitter.
The gossip outlet also claims that they've been told "it's because [Kanye's] super unhappy with the President's performance over his first two weeks in office." According to their source Kanye made the choice himself, with Trump's Muslim ban being named as a catalyst for Kanye's change of heart.
Kanye West's wife Kim Kardashian has been fairly vocal in her dislike of President Trump. As Complex noted, while he was bellowing his support for Trump during the ill-fated Saint Pablo tour, Ye actually donated money to Hillary Clinton's Presidential campaign.
