Jack White nearly collaborated with Kanye West and Jay Z
Working with the likes of Neil Young (as monumental as that is) has become something we expect from Jack White these days, but now the former White Stripes frontman has revealed some rather less likely collaborations that nearly came to be.
Speaking to Rolling Stone recently, White discussed how he’s almost teamed up with both Jay Z and Kanye West in the past.
The Kanye collaboration came in the build-up to last year’s Yeezus, with West phoning White up personally for the project. Despite the plans falling through, however, he remains blown away by the final product, even going as far as dubbing the rapper’s Yeezus live tour as “the greatest show I’ve seen in my life… it was more punk, more in-your-face than anything I’ve seen.”
Things progressed a little further with Hov though, the pair working on a series of unfinished tracks that also eventually got shelved because “I’m not sure [Jay] liked them”.
