Happy Mondays' Shaun Ryder reckons he's already had coronavirus
Happy Mondays vocalist Shaun Ryder has revealed that he thinks he's already had coronavirus after falling ill at the beginning of the month.
In a new interview with Sky News, the Happy Mondays singer has spoken about how he's dealing with isolation since the coronavirus lockdown.
As well as saying he may have already had the virus (along with his wife Joanne), Ryder also revealed he's been "basically self-isolating for the past 10 years, apart from work".
He said of his experience with what could've been coronavirus, "I'm pretty sure we've had it. We had symptoms of it. I mean, nothing puts my missus in bed; no matter what, she'll still get up even if she's dying, but this floored her. She was in bed for over a week."
Ryder adds, "She had pretty much everything they said: couldn't move, found it hard breathing. Then I went down with the old headaches and flu-type symptoms. I had no energy but nothing that I'd go to A&E with, I coped with it at home."
He goes on to reveal that he suffers from an underactive thyroid, and has "terrible" dust allergies, and says he thought the virus would've hit him a lot worse, "With my allergies and breathing I'd think I would have got it real bad, but, you know…"
Ryder also offers advice to those in isolation, "Well, take care. And remember, once a day for your exercises. You've got to be a bit optimistic. I know I have. If I put anything negative in me then it seems to amplify the situation. I have to think positive."
