Glastonbury confirms final two headliners and many more additions for 2019 lineup
This year's Glastonbury Festival has got a lot bigger, with Saturday night headliners The Killers and Sunday night headliners The Cure among the long list confirmed.
Janet Jackson, Rosalia, Little Simz, Kamasi Washington, Lizzo, IDLES, Miley Cyrus, Tame Impala, Janelle Monae, Christine and The Queens, Vampire Weekend, Jorja Smith, Stefflon Don, Jon Hopkins, Cat Power, Sigrid, Pale Waves, Aurora, Interpol, Jungle, Neneh Cherry, Shura, Low, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Loyle Carner, Sharon Van Etten, and many more are also set to hit up Worthy Farm this summer.
As noted by the BBC, this wave of acts represents a shift towards a 50/50 gender balance. Despite all three main Pyramid Stage headliners being male, over 40% of the lineup so far is female.
"The gender balance is something I consider at every stage of the booking process," said co-organiser Emily Eavis in an interview last month. "We're a little way off being 50/50 across the whole festival, but in 2017 the Park Stage was 50/50 and that will be the case on other stages this year. We're definitely moving in the right direction."
Stormzy was the first headliner confirmed for the 2019 event. Earlier this year Eavis revealed some new developments to the festival site: Arcadia are relocating with a completely new design, while Block9 will be expanding and adding a new installation. The Park will also have a new addition.
Although Worthy Farm took 2018 off to recharge from hosting nearly 200,000 people, 2017 saw the Foo Fighters, Radiohead, and Ed Sheeran headline the Pyramid Stage.
