Fontaines D.C. share Andrea Arnold-directed video for "Bug" starring Barry Keoghan
Fontaines D.C. have unveiled a video for their album track, "Bug".
Fontaines D.C.'s “Bug” is taken from their acclaimed fourth album ROMANCE. The video, directed by celebrated Academy-Award®-winner Andrea Arnold (American Honey, Fish Tank, Cow), is a shortform reimagination of Arnold’s lauded forthcoming film, Bird, and includes unseen footage exclusive to the “Bug” video.
Bird features performances from Barry Keoghan (Saltburn), Franz Rogowski (Passages), and newcomer Nykiya Adams alongside newcomer Jason Buda. The film also sees Fontaines D.C.’s own Carlos O’Connell making his big screen debut while Fontaines D.C.’s music feature prominently in the film’s soundtrack.
“I’ve loved the Fontaine’s since I first heard them. Some music just sits in your bones like it always belonged, like you know it already, like it’s part of you. It’s why I asked to use ‘Too Real' and 'A Hero’s Death' for my Bird film. Their music felt like it belonged there. In my world. They were immediately generous in letting me use those tracks which was just fucking brilliant. That generosity brought energy which gets poured into the life of the film," says director Andrea Arnold.
"I am grateful for all the positive energy that comes when you make a film. Extending the images and my Bird world for the Bug track felt like the most natural thing in the world. Like part of the same thing. I wouldn’t have done it had I not felt that. And I would hardly do it for anyone”
Bird will be released theatrically in the UK and US on Friday 8 November. Find tickets and showtimes at mubi.com.
