Crystal Murray unveils two tracks performed live at Abbey Road Studios
Abbey Road has announced the second episode of their new ‘Live Cuts’ series. Produced in association with Because Music, the second episode from Crystal Murray features two live tracks recorded at Abbey Road.
Crystal Murray performed her tracks, "Air" and 'Starmaniak" in one-take, with the recordings cut directly to vinyl. “It was such a beautiful experience to record a live session at Abbey Road, a studio where all my favourite artists recorded and created such timeless music," she says. "These songs are a part of my journey, and I loved that our raw energy is now a part of this legendary place”.
Echoing the way music was originally recorded when Abbey Road opened in 1931, the Live Cut sessions result in a 12” single for each release with the tracks also made available on streaming platforms. Each episode is accompanied by an exclusive short film illuminating the creative and technical processes, alongside an interview with the artist. Episode 1 featured Because Music's debut signing Amadou & Mariam.
Abbey Road’s Head of Brand, Mark Robertson says: “Harking back to how the very first recordings were made, our Live Cuts series is for the bravest artists as there is just one chance, one time, one take and the performance is committed to vinyl forever! It was a real thrill to have Crystal Murray perform at our house for Episode 2”.
